In April 20-22, the final of the 8^thNational Undergraduate Mechanical Innovational Design Competition (Fischertechnik Group) was held in Hangzhou. All four teams from SWPU won the first prize, making a record of our university’s performance in this competition.

472 teams from 187 universities all over China participated in the final.

The problems of this year’s competition are: designing and making a mechanical device for parking cars in residential areas and a mechanical device for assisting strawberry pickers.

Experts give a comprehensive evaluation to submitted work in terms of innovation, function, drawing quality, production skills and so on. All four works submitted by SWPU’s teams, including “three-level non-avoidance parallel parking device”, “small cross-road parking device”, “small strawberry-picking trolley” and “portable integrated strawberry picking and separating device”, won the first prize.

Wang Jing, general secretary of the competition committee and professor at Southwest Jiaotong University, praised our university’s “small cross-road parking device” for being very innovative at the closing ceremony.
