SWPU's First International Student Aliu Abdulmumin Omeiza Obtained Ph.D. Degree

On December 14, SWPU’s Nigerian Ph.D. candidate Aliu Abdulmumin Omeiza defended his doctoral dissertation in the State Key Laboratory. On the 27^th, the 3^rdmeeting of the 12^thUniversity Academic Degree Evaluation Committee voted through the conferral of his Ph.D. degree, and he became the first international student having obtained a doctor’s degree at SWPU.

Aliu’s doctoral dissertation is titledA Novel Crosslinked Na-CMC Hydraulic Fracturing Fluid and Its Performance Evaluation, and was completed under the supervision of Prof. Guo Jianchun. The defense committee listened to his presentation and made inquiries. His supervisor briefed his academic performance and achievements during the period of doctoral studies to the committee. Through a careful review, the defense committee passed theDecision of Doctoral Dissertation Defense Committeeof this student. The committee believes that the dissertation has reached the requirements of a doctoral degree in engineering, therefore it passed the dissertation by an unanimous vote and advised the conferral of a Ph.D. degree in engineering.

Aliu studies petroleum and natural gas engineering, specializing in oil and gas field development. During his doctoral studies, he published 2 SCI-indexed articles as the first author. In 2016, he represented the University in SPE Student Paper Contest (graduate level) of the Asia Pacific Region, and won the champion. “Obtaining a Ph.D. degrees has long been my dream,” said Aliu, “I’m grateful to my supervisor’s team and the university. I will continue working on my future positions and pay back the community.” After getting his degree, he will go to Sichuan University for postdoctoral studies.
